Solas, Hot Foam Weed Control

The foam

Plant sugars and plant oils. That's it.

Solas foam is made from corn and potato starch and coconut oil. It is organically approved, completely biodegradable, and it is the reason hot foam holds heat where hot water loses it.

What the foam is

A heat blanket, not a chemical.

Water is heated on board the machine and mixed with a small amount of Solas foam concentrate. The foam clings to the leaf and holds the thermal energy in place long enough to carry it down into the root crown.

Think of hot water on a weed as tea in a mug, and the foam as a flask. Same tea, very different cooling curve. The foam does no killing itself, it simply stops the heat escaping.

  • The foam kills nothing on its own, it is a heat blanket
  • Holds lethal heat on the leaf and crown for around 108 seconds against 12 for hot water
  • Cuts the water dose needed by at least 2.5x (University of Pisa, 2021)
  • Works in rain, wind, sun or frost
  • No certificate and no PPE required to apply it
